Meet Courtney
Courtney founded Mahjong Standard to teach American mahjong the warm, hands-on way. She hosts every session herself, guiding you from the very first tile, so even complete beginners feel right at home.
Good to know
A play evening, not a first lesson
This one is built for players who already know the rules and have a game or two under their belt. There's a teacher on hand (a nudge on strategy, a question answered), but the tables are rolling from the start, so you'll want to be past your very first sit-down. It's the fun, social middle: real games, real play, a glass of Carboy wine in hand.
Brand new to mahjong? Come to our beginner evening on September 8 first, it's taught from scratch, and we'll see you at open play after.
Got a set? Bring it
If you have your own tile set, you're very welcome to bring it along, more sets means more tables in play. Don't have one? No problem at all, we bring plenty. Let us know your preference in the registration form so we can plan the tables around who's bringing what.
