Meet Courtney
Courtney founded Mahjong Standard to teach American mahjong the warm, hands-on way. She hosts every session herself, guiding you from the very first tile, so even complete beginners feel right at home.
Good to know
A play evening, not a first lesson
This one's built for players who already know the rules and have a game or two under their belt. There's a teacher on hand for guided play (a nudge on strategy, a question answered), but the tables are rolling from the start, so you'll want to be past your very first sit-down. It's the fun, social middle: real games, real play, a cool evening outdoors.
Brand new to mahjong? You're still very welcome in the family. Start with a lesson or a public open session first, and we'll see you at the next one of these.
Got a set? Bring it
Part of the fun of open play is the sets that show up — every one adds character to the room. Bring yours and you've always got a table to play on. We'll have plenty on hand if you don't.
