1. About These Terms

These terms apply to lessons booked with Mahjong Standard — private and group American mahjong lessons held in your home. By booking with us, you agree to these terms. If anything here is unclear, please ask before you book; we are always happy to talk it through.

2. Bookings & Inquiries

Lessons are booked online or by inquiry and are held in your own home. A booking is confirmed once we have agreed the date, group size and location with you. Places are limited and offered on a first-come basis.

3. Payment

Lesson prices are shown on our lessons page and confirmed when you book. No deposit is required to reserve your date — payment is taken at the lesson by cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.

4. Changes & Cancellations

Life happens, and we try to be reasonable. Our cancellation and rescheduling terms are confirmed with your booking and depend on the type of booking:

• Lessons: let us know as early as you can and we will do our best to move you to another date.
• Larger groups: for bookings across multiple tables, please give us as much notice as possible if your numbers change.

We may occasionally need to reschedule a session or event. If we do, we will offer you an alternative date or a full refund of any amount paid for that booking.

5. What We Bring

Every lesson includes all the equipment needed to play — tiles, mats, racks, tile grabbers, the official card and a beginner guide — brought to your home and taken away again afterwards. You provide a suitable table, seating, and the people learning. The equipment remains ours; the beginner guide is yours to keep.

6. At the Table

Our tables are warm, welcoming, and open to all. We ask everyone to treat your host and fellow players with kindness and respect. We reserve the right to end a lesson early if anyone's behavior spoils it for others, without refund.

7. Liability

We take care to run our sessions and events well, but to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss or damage to personal belongings, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Intellectual Property

The Mahjong Standard name, branding, written content, and imagery on this website are our property and may not be reproduced without permission.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with a revised date. For questions, please get in touch via our contact form.
